The meeting has ended

This year was the longest annual meeting. It started just after 5pm on Wed. and ran till 10am on Monday. Of course the actual "meeting" only went about 10 minutes. The rest was the pre- and post- meeting festivities. Which were a blast as always. The addition of an extra "house" helped. There were all the usual founding members in attendance. Next year will be even better.

New Members

The LBI CC annual meeting was last night. We voted in a few new members. Welcome to Pat and Bob Bridgeman who were nice enough to host the meeting. Also, Marsha Fox which had been an oversight by us.

It was a wonderful evening of food, laughs and fun. Ray Ray made wings and Davey made a delicious pulled pork. There was also some goat ribs that chef Dave did not like but where quite tasty. There was BBQ shrimp, kielbasa and munchies. Also, a nice combo of pork and pork. Pork tenderloin wrapped into pinwheels with bacon. Then expertly grilled by Dave.

Most of the plovers are heading home today. It is a yucky day so not too bad to leave. The group here is hanging till tomorrow.

WOW, we can buy more stuff

Link

Pretty cool huh? 3 of 4 from the Coach Ray brood has branched out into hand painting glasses. The design is not quite final but will be available on the pilsner glass shown or a pint glass or a wine glass. Price is yet to be determined but that doesn't matter. Imagine quaffing your favorite adult beverage on the deck overlooking the bay at LBI CC headquarters this fall. Or on the deck overlooking the ocean from the secondary headquarters.

Dishwasher safe - probably not, beer safe - you bet!

Order soon as these one of kind glasses will be going fast and the production team of 3 of 4 and BF will need some time to produce them.

Maybe we can get them to branch out into travel coffee mugs and plastic wine glasses (needed by a certain plover).

Contact Coach Ray for more info.

Final New Years post

Well, it was a lot of fun that is for sure. Sunday morning was all about the omelets, mimosas and packing up. There are a bunch of pictures HERE of what may soon become the new LBI CC headquarters.

A fun day

My sister and brother-in-law stopped in for a quick visit, then we went to lunch at one of the restaurants that is open. They also happen to be one of the award winners for chowder each year. Really good chowder. And of course very nice company (hi Sis)

Then we ran up to the lighthouse to grab some hats and take a couple of quick pics. Can you tell it is still cold and windy?

Then we drove down to the South end of the Island to Holgate. Took a bit of a walk on the beach and captured the above picture of what we think is a Plover!!

There were some other plovers there as well but when we tried to get close to them they kept flying away. Sally plover was heard to exclaim "stupid birds, lets go get a drink, fuck'em." To which the Pres replied "that is the true plover spirit".

Off to Buckalew's for a couple of bevvy's. Foxy met us there as his day was over. Had a very nice martini which is made with gin not vodka as Foxy explained.

Back to the house to catch the pretty sunset and perhaps have another cocktail or three.

It happened in a blink of the eye but, Old Barney is shining bright! Ok, maybe not so bright. It is a dimmer light than the normal lighthouse beacon. Don't want to blind the locals you know! All and all the small but might little band of plovers braved the wind and bitter cold to witness history then quickly scurried back to their nest for dinner and libations.

The Prez

Plovers to the wind

JP and Lulu are off to a family gathering this afternoon. The Pres is off to a lecture at the lighthouse. Foxy is at work again today. Sally and JH are having lunch with his sister and then off to the South end of the island for a little sightseeing. Might stop at the maritime museum with the the Pres for a bit. May have to do a little shopping as well if anything is open.

Think it will be leftovers for dinner and football on the tube tonight.

A quiet day

A pretty quiet day except for the shooting. Guess it must be duck season. Been hearing shots all day long from a small island just out in the bay from the house.

Sally and Lulu plover went to the spa for some massages and nail stuff. Me and JP took a little walk on the beach. Foxy went to work and the Pres went grocery shopping.

Coach Ray and miss Stephanie had to cancel, too many things going on.

Now we are getting dinner organized which is a couple of beer can chickens. Sally is making popovers for the crew.

Tonight might be some game playing and probably watching more football.

Drunko Bloggo Dos

Well, a couple or more plovers are horizontal at this point. We had a nice dinner, played a game and now I think it is bed time.

Watching a little TV and finish the beer, then off to bed.

More hungovero bloggo tomorrow morning. Some pork products and french toast. Lots of coffee. Wee Wee says the Pres or is that oui oui? Don't know, never get those foreign language things right. Been lots of Canadian spoken tonight between Sally plover and the Bridgeman plovers.

Lulu is hanging in there and even ate some dinner. No yakking has occurred but there is always tomorrow.

Coach Ray and Miss Stephanie make an appearance tomorrow. Watch out for those Egyptians pretending to be Italians in Advance, NC! Somebody call the FBI.

Donde esto drunko blogo?

Aqui! Donde esto la Presidenta? Aqui! Le hurta plover. La Presidenta rallyio y drinko Jacko Daniels.
Okay, enough with that. We have lost a plover for the night, Lulu not feeling well at this point. But we have added to the nest as Pat and Bob Bridgeman have arrived. Gonna have a nice dinner of a 10 lb filet mignon, baked potatoes, salad and Sally's popovers. Still have at least 8 bottles of red wine.
Mucho drunko bloggo latero.

Old Barny is lit!

So, not a great picture but it is 25 degrees and I may have been shivering. Had to walk about 1/2 mile from the car to this spot. Who knew that there would be thousands of people there to watch this. It was a complete madhouse. But it is now lit and everybody had a good time watching it.

A quiet plover morning

Some of the plovers got a bit into their cups last night. This morning there are some hurtin' plovers. The nest has thinned a bit as we have lost five to various locations. Topper is off to the mummers parade and my return on Saturday. A couple of new plovers are arriving tonight.

Tonight at dusk is the relighting of Old Barny. We can see the lighthouse from here by walking to the end of the driveway and looking down the boulevard. It will be a bit cold out there tonight.

Several plovers currently napping, me I am enjoying a malted beverage.
